What is Jet liposuction ?
Jet liposuction uses water jetstream technology to remove fat, preserving the integrity of the fat cells.
Jet assisted liposuction is very precise.
In contrast to “traditional” tumescent liposuction techniques, in jet liposuction it is not necessary to inject huge volumes of fluid prior to liposuction, therefore the surgeon can shape more precisely.
Jet liposuction is further very atraumatic and does not bleed.
Further to this, Jet liposuction works much faster than “conventional” tumescent liposuction, enabling removal of around one litre of fat in thirty minutes.
How does the laser work in laser body reshaping (laser liposuction)?
In laser liposuction (smartlipo), laser light at a determined a specific pulse breaks the fat cells and liquifies the fat.
The specific laser wavelength used for laser liposuction is also absorbed selectively by red blood cells and therefore the use of laser in liposuction prevents bleeding.
The key advantage in laser liposuction is that the laser also causes the deeper layers of the skin, the so called dermis, to retract evenly.
This does not happen in conventional liposuction.
Scientific literature on laser liposuction documents possible skin retraction up to 25%.
Can the two techniques be combined ?
Yes in patients who have somewhat lax skin but want or need large quantities of fat removed, we use Body Jet to remove a large quantity of fat and smartlipo laser for the “fine-tuning” of the skin.
The combination of both techniques is the best.
What are reovery periods
The recovery period depends largely on the amount of fat removed.
In small areas of fat, and especially when treating arms and the „double chin“ deformity, smartlipo alone is often the best option.
When treating larger areas, we regard it as preferable to treat the deeper areas with water jet stream liposuction first for safe and precise removal of large amounts of fat.
In the superficial layerswe then switch to laser lipsouction for skin retraction.
Our experience with this protocol for liposuction is very positive and ideal for pateints with larger fat deposits and moderate amounts of lax skin
When is conventional tumescent technique used ?
In our practice never. We regard this as an outdated technique, and it’s used is not justifiable.
Both Body Jet and laser liposuction are more precise, safer and less traumatic than tumescent liposuction, which we believe must not be used any more.
